About The Mc Cormack Family

Patrick Mc Cormack moved to Dublin from Co. Tipperary at the tender age of 16 and purchased his first public house in Dublin city centre in 1946. He sold his first pub, today known as Peter's Pub, and purchased a premise in Dun Laoghaire in 1960. This pub was extended and refurbished over the years and is still run by the Mc Cormack family, simply know locally as Mc Cormack's of Mounttown.

Eamonn & Paddy Mc Cormack went into the business with their father and a second premises in Bray, Co. Wicklow was purchased in 1978. Both pubs continued to be upgraded and the advent of pub grub changed the landscape of the food served in the Irish pub. Both Mc Cormack's of Mounttown and Mc Cormack's of Bray went on to win catering awards for the quality of their lunch food, which was a far cry from the days of toasted sandwiches and a bowl of soup. Mc Cormack's of Mounttown was crowned the winner of the National Bar Catering Competition in 1988 and the family has not looked back since.

The selling of the Bray premises saw the purchasing of The Merrion Inn in 1991 and the boundaries of the traditional Irish pub continued to be pushed. Eamonn took the reins of the new premises with Paddy continuing to run Mc Cormack's of Mounttown. Both pubs have continued to expand their catering facilities and now serve both carvery lunches and food from our a la carte menus until 9:30pm every night of the week.

The addition of Fearghus Mc Cormack to the management team in 2009, brought a third generation of the family into the business. Now Eamonn, Paddy and Fearghus work hands on in both pubs ensuring the customers are looked after to the highest standard and keep the unique feeling of the family run Irish pub alive.
